PRISON STATE OF MIND

Procrestination is a prison I realised today  blogger of note Nana Kofi helped me reach this realisation Ideas are diamonds in the ruff and we need to dig em up so we see them clearly and wash them and refine them basically work them like miners work in search of gold or platinum in the north west province.I went to visit leeukop prison a coupla moons ago and realised that many youngsters who are inside have realised that there is no time to waist in this lifetime.your dreams and hopes are never blocked by the prison warderer but by your own inhabitions and fears .Many don’t need to be behind bars to be prisoners.at leeukop I noticed that it was still like the paterns you find outside jail .there were those who saw their mistakes and were busy equipping themselves with skills and knowledge to help them hit the ground running once outside like Itumeleng Tshegara (21) who is in prison for five years for armed robbery is now a motivational speaker and  is also attending schooling  at the Leeuwkop correctional centre(wearing the rosary) and there were those who preferred to sit behind bars with their hands folded the whole day.

Portrait of an antique dealer ,this is by far one of my favourite photographs I made this year and also one that felt most natural while making.when I first met Riaan Bolt at his home in Linden he was calm and happy to see me, good sign number one: naturally I became happy to meet him .Juice or coffe he inquired juice I opted ,then it was the beginning of work for us ,Riaan tells me of the furniture he has on sale ,Iask him to tell me about him and he does so gracefully as if talking about his favourite friend; tells me he got into antiques by genes his parents collected he says calmy .Basically we clicked like long lost friends hence I see fit to feature this creative soul who is a qualified piano teacher/player,model and this I decided after our shoot he was great and has a beautiful face ,antique dealer and art collector of note.

BURN TO BUILD

This thought came to mind last night as i watched a furniture shop burn down in rosenttenville south of Johannesburg,When something like a fire happens to your business do you rebiuld or move on.One career option i also confirmed to myself that i would not do just because Iam not man enough is firefighting these men and women risk their lives on a daily basis just to save others lives these guys are our real heroes they talk and calm fires that threaten to drop buildings in a whiff,so my big ups go to the Johannesburg firefighters who do the job I would rather someone else did.

WHERE WERE YOU ON THE 27/28 OCT 2011

I DO PICTURES MOSTLY TO REMEMBER MOMENTS IN MY PAST THAT RECLECT ON THE FUTURE,WE HUMANS HAVE A TENDENCEY TO FORGET QUICKLY.WHERE WERE YOU ON THE 27-28-10-2011,I HAD ALMOST FORGOTTEN UNTIL I STUMBLED OF THESE IMAGES.ON THE MORNING OF 27-10-2011 I WOKE EARLY AND HITCHED A RIDE TO THE SOUTH OF JOZI TO A LOCATION CALLED THEMBALIHLE MEANING GOODFAITH .
PART OF THE REASON I WENT THERE WAS TO COLLECT MEMORY.ON THIS DAY I WANTED TO REMEMBER THE FACES OF THOSE WHO BELIEVED IN THE VIEW THAT THE MARCH ON THIS DAY WAS INDEED GOING TO BRING ECONOMIC FREEDOM IN THEIR LIFETIME.IN THEMBALIHLE I SAW DA,ANC.PAC AND COPE UNITE AND ALL SAY SIYAYA E PETORI.13 DAYS LATER THE LEADER OF THE ANCYL WHO LEAD THE MARCH GOT SUSPENDED FROM THE RULING PARTY, WILL THE PEOPLE OF SOUTH AFRICA SEE THE FRUITS OF THEIR LABOUR.BROTHERS SISTERS MOTHER AND CHILD SLEPT ON THE OPEN IN A STADIUM IN PRETORIA I HEARD NO SINGING ON THE MORNING OF THE 28TH AFTER THE LONG WALK DUBBED THE COMBRADES MARATHON WAS FINISHED NO SIYAYA E PETORI ,THERE MASSES WERE IN PRETORIA NOW, WHAT NOW THEY ASKED AMONGST THEMSELVES.A LONESOME DISC JOCKEY BELTING A TUNE FROM DURBANS FINEST"I GYM MAPHI LE WEIGHT".THERE WAS NO SINGING BUT JUST SLEEPY FACES AND CONTEMPLATIVE ONES OTHERS ASKING ALOUD WHAT AM I DOING HERE.I REMEMBER THE HOPE AS PEOPLE CLIMED ON TO BUSSES I SAW THE FACE OF THE JOBLESS,THE POVERTY STRICKEN,THE MOTHER DOING IT FOR THE FUTURE OF HER KIDS ,FATHERS WHO HOPED THIS WILL HELP THEM REGAIN THEIR DIGNITY IN THE FACE OF SOCIETY THE HOUSELESS,LATER ON THE DAY ON TV I SAW THE RICH IN THEIR WALKING SHOES TAKING THAT EXTRA MILE TO PROTECT THEIR TENDER FUTURE I SAW THE FIESTY PROTECTING THEIR PRESENT AND FUTURE WITH HUNGRY AND THIRSTY MASSES BEHIND THEM.I MAKE PICTURES TO HELP ME REMEMBER ,LOOKING AT THESE PHOTOGRAPHS NOW I CLEARLY REMEMBER THOSE 2 DAYS IN THEMELIHLE ,BEYERS NAUDE SQUARE ,OUTSIDE THE CHAMBER OF MINES IN SANDTONAS WELL AS THE SCENE IN COLENDRON STADIUM IN PTA .MY VIEW IS THE PEOPLE MUST REMEMBER AND HOLD ACCOUNTABLE THOSE WHO MADE BOLD AND EMPTY PROMISES TO THEM,WHILE THEY WERE HOMELESS JOBLESS TIRED AND THIRSTY WHERE THEY LED TO THE LAND OF MILF AND HONEY AS PROMISED.

Me and my daughter had great fun even though she kept on going on stage wanting to play with Lindiwe Matshikiza while she was perfoming ,my girl looked at me and said iam gonna play with that lady.I floated in a very deep river there it was soo surreal for me scary at first but then i felt like i was flying men it was nice ,these for me are great memories and photography for me helps preserve those memories

1.Couple of moons ago in a small town of the north west musicians hippies jazz lovers and makers descended on Groot Marico I can assure having been thwre Groot Marico is not Groot but it has groot wonders like their rivers and ambiance .so Marcus Wyatt and crew ,Siya Makhuzeni and her crew the river crew the melville crew ,my crew had much fun in the

North West.
